A circular knitting machine is basically a home made device used to knit fabric using circular yarn, most commonly in the shape of yarn sticks. Most knitting machines have only two knobs which are attached by a long metal rod that rotates a small yarn around the kniter's hand to create the fabric. The two types of knitting machines are the rotary type which is similar to a sewing machine, and the centrifugal type which is similar to a pasta maker.

The needle which is used for knitting a fabric or a knit fabric is called a point or a tendon. The needle moves up and down the length of the shaft of the knitting zone making fabric is created. The second most essential Knitting Machine part is the fabric roller. It is the circular or the rectangular frame that holds the fabric while it is being knitted. It is mostly made out of plastic but in some cases, metal is also used. It helps in maintaining the knitting zone without any slipping. It also helps in controlling the tension of the fabric during the knitting process.

Another basic Knitting Machine Part is the creel. This is the flat handle which is used for drawing the fabric tightly onto the needle. The creel acts as the platform where the yarns are drawn. It is very important for creating a firm, sturdy fabric.
